Every digital system in a building is a set of decisions — made early, or discovered late. Our approach exists to make them early.

Behavioral research before design. Systems architecture before procurement. An operational model before opening day.

Behavioral Research

Every project starts with understanding the people it has to serve — not as users of a screen, but as people moving through a building. We combine quantitative analytics with qualitative interviews to model your audience’s motivations, behaviors, and needs, and we test whether the finished work actually does what it claims: our user research on the climate perception gap and on interactive learning at the Yale Peabody Museum is published and public.

Design Development

During Design Development we take our findings and develop design concepts for what we might build. Storyboards, renderings, and technology research all happen here. This is also where systems decisions get made — state architecture, infrastructure zones, and operational ownership are designed here, before they become procurement problems.

Iterative Production

Iterative Production means you see the work as it happens, not just at milestone meetings: we release functional prototypes every two weeks and track progress against goals.

Collaborative Model

We work as collaborators, not vendors — and it shows. We scope for change because change is the nature of this work: our engagements absorb iteration rather than billing for it, and if we finish early, you keep the savings.

Capabilities

Spatial human-computer interaction (HCI) — systems architecture consulting. Between architecture and media sits a layer of work most projects discover too late — behavioral modeling, real-time system logic, infrastructure planning, lifecycle strategy, accessibility engineered into the interaction layer. Engagements at this layer are available standalone, from concept through commissioning. Read the full argument →

Digital Interactives. The interactives themselves — interface, software, and hardware — designed and built by the same team that architected the system, so nothing is lost in a handoff.

Content Creation. The content inside them, produced in-house — illustration and animation, 3D models, scientific simulation, AR/VR, data visualization — built to the same operational standard as the systems that carry it.

The software platforms beneath this work — Galaxy, Fusion, and Starwatch — are documented here.
