Description
Installed at the threshold before visitors reach the physical Temple Room deep in the MFA's Arts of Japan galleries, the touchscreen kiosk lets visitors tap hotspots on digital, photogrammetry-scanned versions of seven centuries-old hand-carved Buddhist sculptures to learn about their artistry, construction, and iconography, and to view conservation stories for three of the works. The sculptures were scanned by the museum's Conservation department in partnership with MIT students.
